2008  Hornbill Festival was first launched in September 2008 after several months of planning since the  formation of Persatuan Warisan Sarawak Kuala Lumpur in the late 2007.  Persatuan Warisan Sarawak designed Hornbill Festival to be a showcase of all the ethnic culture, tradition and values which make Sarawak a place like no other. 2009 Persatuan Warisan Sarawak had announced to organize an ethnic beauty pageant for Sarawakians in Kuala Lumpur during their Christmas and Chinese New Year Open House in January 2009.  Tight budget and limited resources caused Hornbill Festival 2009 to be shelved due to the priority given to the pageant competition named Kumang and Keling Gawai 2009...   Read more...

BHF 2010  Having successfully organized a dance showcase in 2008 and a beauty pageant in 2009, the organizing committee came full circle and organized Hornbill Festival 2010.  Both dance showcase and beauty pageant took place during the event.   Read more...

BHF 2012 saw the event grow in the right direction and at a steady pace.  More people are aware of the event and the difference which set us apart from typical Kumang & Keling Pageants in Sarawak.  Our focus was not only on Sarawak but also Sabah as we commit ourselves to be more inclusive in serving Borneo people.
